Canoeing, bicycling and hiking tour from Smedjebacken to Kopparberg

A five-day canoeing, hiking and bicycling adventure through the wilderness in the Malingsbo-Kloten Nature Reserve

Day 1) Transfer from the train station in Smedjebacken to the starting point of canoeing or Kayaking. Paddling in canoes or kayaks from Smedjebacken to Söderbärke. Distance: 15 km. Accommodation in B&B

Day 2) Bicycling from Söderbärke to the lake KorslÃ¥ngen. Distance: 40 km. Outdoor accommodation in tents, rain & wind shelter or teepee

Day 3) Paddling in canoes or kayaks from KorslÃ¥ngen to Kloten. Distance: 15 km. Accommodation in B&B

Day 4) Hiking from Kloten to Lilla Kroktjänen. Distance: 11 km. Accommodation in tents, rain & wind shelter or teepee

Day 5) Breakfast and transfer to the train station in Kopparberg

The guided tour includes: Breakfast Days 2-5. Lunch Days 1-4. Dinner Days 1-4. Canoes/kayaks, paddles, life jackets, water-proof sacks, seat mats, bicycles, helmets and bicycle bags. Daily luggage transport, transfer from the railway station Day 1 and transfer to the railway station Day 5. Guesthouses accommodation Nights 1 & 3. Outdoor acommodation Days 2 & 4. Sheets and towels Nights 1 & 3. Sleeping bags and sleeping mats Nights 2 & 4. The lunches on the tour are picnick wilderness lunches. The dinners are 2-course dinners. The dinners Nights 2 & 4 are wilderness dinners prepared over the fire 

Type of bicycling, paddling and hiking: Bicycling along dirt roads through deep forests. The paddling is easy flat water paddling on water without currents. Hiking along a marked hiking trail

Landscape description: We pass through the wild and untouched nature in the Malingsbo-Kloten Nature Reserve. The rivers, paths and dirt roads are winding. The pine forest is deep and beautiful. Nights 1 & 3 are spent in small traditional villages. Nights 2 & 4 are spent camping in the wilderness

Equipment: You have the choice to paddle in canoes or kayaks. The canoes and kayaks are made out of the strong hard plastic material, polyethylene and are of good quality and in good shape. Read about the canoe >>. The kayaks are stable sea kayaks with broad waists, which have been constructed to manage big waves and strong winds in sea conditions. Read about the kayaks >> . Food on the trip: We eat good food prepared by local chefs. The chefs use local products, with many ingredients from the forest, with a traditional Swedish touch. E.g. Moose meat, rainbow trout, chanterelles and berries. We custom-make all meals and eat the same food together. The dinners are two-course meals. Every morning there is a breakfast buffet to choose from

The tour is arranged with a minimum of 4 participants on dates of free choice between 1st of May-31st of October

Personal equipment: Equipment that is not needed during the day will be transported to each night's accommodation

Clothes to bicycle, paddle and hike in: Shorts, sport clothes, swimming gear and rain gear (in case of rain or as a backup against rain). A hat and sunglasses are recommended

To bring during the day: Pack in water-proof bags on paddling days, in a personal daypack on the hiking day and in bicycle bags on the cycling day. Bring: Rain gear, swimming gear, a towel, sun block, a camera and warm "summer clothes". The participants will receive a bottle with drinking water at the beginning of the trip. The bottle will be refilled along the tour

Information: At the starting point, we provide detailed information about the tour.  At each dinner, detailed information about the next day's program is provided in front of maps

Safety: The experienced, native Swedish guide is very knowledgeable about all aspects of canoeing, kayaking, the area, the wilderness and the wild animals that inhabit the deep forest. The guide is also a certified life guard, having passed all of the Swedish Life Guards’ Association’s tests for Life Guard Education. A first aid kit is brought on the tour
